| "G.G." 's Story
Rescued by Sarasota in Defense of Animals (SDA)
Two weeks ago I received a telephone call from Cirese Terry who had visited a goat dairy farm near Sarasota, Florida and had seen a pitiful little goat out in the rain (goats hate rain) and knealing on her front legs. Cirese was disturbed at the sight of this little female creatures and coordinated with me to take the goat to a veterinarian to get a diagnosis and possible treatment for her. Arrangements were made for a vet clinic appointment via SDA & our vet immediately said "This goat has a birth defect and there is nothing I can do for her. Her condition is untreatable and she will remain walking on her front elbows the rest of her life." He did not speculate as to what her life expectancy would be. Below: Elise cares for G.G
When I learned this news from the vet, I told Cirese that SDA would take this little girl and give her lifetime loving care at our sanctuary. Cirese and several friends transported her in the back seat of their car and I was taken aback when I saw how precious and sweet natured she was. We named her "G.G." for gimpy goat because she is so severely handicapped. She settled right in a pasture with 3 sheep, loves grapes & strawberries and of course hay and oats. What an amazing little creature and such an inspiration running and wagging her tail with no worry in the world totally oblivious to the fact she is handicapped and cannot stand up on all 4 legs. See more of "G G" on the SDA Website!

Franklin family’s dogs taken by animal officer, placed with new owners
FRANKLIN, Maine — Last fall, the Warren family had two Golden Retrievers, Bella and Jake, that were considered integral members of a household which includes four young children. Now the dogs have been placed with a new owner somewhere in New England after they took off from the Warrens’ yard in early November and failed to return. |
