Jackie Kaufman asks owners to send her molds of their poochs' nose or paws so she can make them into fashionable jewelry and accessories. Using solid silver she turns these impressions it into a necklace, ring or even a belt buckle. "Our jewelry is all about standing out with fresh and unique designs! We use the antique method of lost wax casting with sterling silver and 14KT gold.
Each piece is carved by hand from a piece of wax then cast. We don't use molds, so each one is really "one of a kind". We handmelt, in our studio only the finest "recycled" sterling silver. Much of the silver that we use are from rejected pieces from ...a factory that made Disney, Harley Davidson, and Lenox Jewelry. We then melt these pieces down to create our own jewelry. We love doing custom designs for businesses or individuals. Our prices are very reasonable because you are buying directly from the manufacturer. Jackie, who sells them online, said: "I am a Jewelry caster and started by using people fingerprints in creating unique pieces for my customers. Then one day, a customer in Canada told me her dog was very ill and she would love to be able to have a remembrance of this beloved pet. I told her if she was able to get a print either paw or nose, I would be able to make the piece and cast it for her. She sent me the prints which happened top be the nose, and I was able to make it into a belt buckle. When she received the piece she cried because her dog had passed away, but she was able to see the dog through the piece and has a great remembrance of her pet." Jackie, from South Florida in the United States added: "Each dog nose is different, just like the fingerprint of a person. I had taken pictures of the piece, which I still use. All the different pieces listed have all come from ideas from my customers." When orders come in she sends out a paw or dog nose print kit that includes three moulds to make a full nose or paw print of a pet. The mold only has to stay on the paw or nose for a second, so the dog or cat will not be stressed.

Jackie's pieces range in price is based on the amount of sterling silver involved. The price also includes a pre-paid return envelope to return the mould and from then it is two to three weeks before the finished piece of jewelry is shipped out. Jackie, who owns a pet Pug called Chops, said: "I have sold over 1,700 pieces so I can't tell from the noses what type of dog I am dealing with! I can only tell if it was a small or large dog. Franklin family’s dogs taken by animal officer, placed with new owners
FRANKLIN, Maine — Last fall, the Warren family had two Golden Retrievers, Bella and Jake, that were considered integral members of a household which includes four young children. Now the dogs have been placed with a new owner somewhere in New England after they took off from the Warrens’ yard in early November and failed to return.
